中國常駐聯合國代表張軍表示，國際社會不應向非洲國家埃塞俄比亞極限施壓。
他促請各方冷靜克制，指出埃塞俄比亞當前局勢是政治、歷史、民族等多重因素結果，只能從內部尋求解決方案。安理會應為斡旋提供時間空間，限制貿易或切斷援助，極限施壓，對重建互信沒有幫助。
埃塞俄比亞局勢近期緊張，政府軍繼續與威脅進軍首都亞的斯亞貝巴的反政府武裝提格雷人民解放陣線戰鬥。另一方面，美國政府計劃以嚴重侵犯人權為理由，將埃塞俄比亞從非洲成長暨機會法貿易協議中剔除。
