聯合國糧農組織發表報告，指北韓在2018至2020年，有1090萬人營養不良，佔全國總人口約四成二，較全球、亞洲及非洲國家的平均比例高，甚至高過比率為三成五的非洲窮國盧旺達，以及比率為一成六的埃塞俄比亞，情況只是較索馬里、中非共和國、海地、馬達加斯加及也門好。
報告亦指出，期內北韓居民日均攝取熱量為2075千卡，比世界平均值的2950千卡低。
