受Delta變種病毒影響，美國的新增確診個案較一星期前增加3%，死亡及住院人數亦分別上升11%和6%，其中住院人數突破10萬人，是八個月以來最多。不過，疫苗接種比率同樣有上升趨勢，新學年開始時，12至17歲兒童當中，有一半最少已接種一劑疫苗。
