事發在當地星期二早上，爆炸地點是一個垃圾焚化場，幾公里外都聽到巨大的爆炸聲，爆炸導致溶劑儲存缸起火，現場冒出大量濃煙，消防員到場灌救，大約3小時將火救熄，目前不清楚爆炸起因。
當局警告事件極度危險，呼籲居民留在室內，關好門窗，以預防可能出現的有毒煙霧，又一度封閉事發地點附近多條高速公路。
